2005 GP14 National Championships

The 2005 GP14 National Championships were hosted by Mossel Bay Yacht Club, with 19 boats sailing.

The fleet consisted of many Northvaal boats venturing forth onto sea water for a change, as well as boats from the nearby George Lakes Yacht Club.

Eight races were sailed. The front contenders comprised the Parker clan (Richard, Grant, Anthony), Pat Mitchell as well as a new combination of Irishman Will Moody with Ken Bennetts. The wind was generally light - the coastal sailors were questioned on their view that there was always strong wind at the coast! There was a stronger wind on the last day. Even so, the wind then promptly swung fom N/W to S/W during a race! Racing was close at the front - the winner had to be determined subject to a protest after the last race.

The 2005 GP14 National Champions are Will Moody & Ken Bennetts. The silver medals went to previous incumbents, Richard Parker and Dave Hawkins.
